When are practices?
Practices are typically anywhere from 7:00PM-10:00PM EST. We send out weekly availability polls to see what days/times work best for people. We try out best to accommodate!
What server are you guys on?
We are on all the North American servers and typically move around to avoid lag while recording.
Are you guys welcoming to beginners?
Yes! We have a ranked system in place so riders can start at a beginner level and work their way up. A lot of our riders on the roster started CP as a total beginner when it came to dressage, and they are now advanced riders!
Do you guys require testing to rank up?
Yes. As we strive to improve each year, testing has become a standard in Crystal Pirates. In Deckhands, you can expect one test and in Cadets you can expect two.

What is testing like?
Riders will perform a set list of moves in a set order. The tests last roughly 15 minutes and we score on technique and remembrance. Aswell, we send feedback in a competition-esk scorecard. This allows riders to become comfortable with competition scoresheets. Not just choreographers.
Think of it like taking your driver’s license test, most people fail a few times before they pass. Riders typically take the test 2-3 times before passing. This is normal and encouraged.
Do I have to compete?
In Crystal Pirates we do require that all members compete with The Crew once every 12 months!
What time zone are you in?
We make all announcements in the EST time zone.
What region are you on?
We are a North American dressage club.
How fast can I advance through each rank if I join?
Typically, riders will spend 2.5 months in the Deckhands rank. This includes learning the necessary curriculum lessons, reviewing each lesson when needed, prepping for testing, taking the test, and retaking the test if applicable. And after testing, trial batches get to do a showcase!! WOO!!
Scheduling of Cadets, Boatswains, and Lieutenants is typically molded around our competitive schedule and/or showcase agenda. So, riders will be in these ranks for longer depending on how fast groups are able to progress.
