History

The Crystal Pirates curriculum was created upon The Crew setting sail, but began finalization behind-the-scenes in August of 2023. At first, it was based upon learning moves and applying it to sequences. After realization that this wouldn't help competitively long-term, we shifted to a more "less learning, more applying" method. Thus, the Crystal Pirates curriculum, and in tandem The Modifier Method, was born.

The curriculum is available in our Discord server and began transitioning over to the website in May of 2024.

Principles

As most dictionaries are centered on learning a multitude of moves and sequences, Crystal Pirates strays from typical dressage groups in this way. Instead of making members memorize hundreds of moves and set names; we focus on core moves and apply them. Because of this, members can focus on applying theory instead of cramming their mind with new moves.
In Crystal Pirates, we aim to work with all riders and make them comfortable in the arena. Our curriculum truly shines in our competitive routines where we take the basic moves taught throughout our lessons and turn it into more. By applying gait changes, modifiers, and formations, we can make creative and energetic sequences.

Modifiers

Our method relies heavily on the usage of modifiers. These are types of commandings in dressage which can easily communicate values to riders in the line. Thus, allowing us to create new sets by the second and not be confined to making riders memorize new set names.
